Welcome to South Beech Veterinary Surgery. We have been looking after the health and wellbeing of pets in Wickford and the surrounding areas for over 30 years. We aim to provide the highest standard of pet health care and encourage prevention as well as treatment. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services to enhance the wellbeing of our patients. In addition to treating dogs, cats and small furies we have a special interest in exotic animal medicine. We treat a wide range of pets from lizards and tortoises to parrots and chickens. We also provide a 24hr emergency service so you can rest assured that help and advice is always just a phonecall away!

We are a fully equipped practice, able to deal with all first opinion companion animal cases, with an operating theatre, in house laboratory, x-ray facilities, ultrasound, video endoscope soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery equipment, blood pressure and blood glucose testing equipment, intensive care unit, two isoflurane anaesthetic machines, electrocardiography unit, dentistry suite and a dedicated exotics ward with heated vivariums.

Veterinary care of exotic species is a specialized field of veterinary medicine. We have experienced nurses trained in exotic pet nursing. The exotic service for small mammals, birds and reptiles is run by Carsten Butz.

We are an RCVS accredited Tier 2 small animal practice, which means that you can be sure that your pets are in good hands as our practice meets or exceeds the stringent standards set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
